Taskr is a campus-focused platform designed to connect students seeking help with everyday tasks to other students who want to earn money by completing those tasks. Built specifically for campus communities and launched initially at Penn State and Virginia Tech, Taskr facilitates a peer-to-peer system where students can post tasks such as move-in assistance, furniture assembly, rides, tutoring, pickups, errands, and furniture hauling. The service aims to make it easy for students to find help for real-world needs from others nearby on campus.
The platform supports two primary user roles: posters, who describe and post tasks they need completed, and helpers, who browse available tasks and select those that fit their schedules. Posters can review helper profiles and ratings, communicate via in-app messaging before committing, and track the progress of their task through the app. Helpers have the flexibility to choose tasks that suit their availability and are paid through the app upon completion of the work. Taskr emphasizes user control, allowing posters to select the helper they feel most comfortable with based on profiles and previous ratings.
Trust and safety are addressed through features such as user profiles, ratings, clear task details agreed upon in advance, and dispute support from the Taskr team if issues arise. The platform is designed to keep communication and task status updates within the app, ensuring that all information is centralized and accessible. Payments are handled securely through the app, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
Taskr is currently available to students at select campuses, with a waitlist for those interested in joining as either posters, helpers, or both. The service is positioned as a tool built by students for students, focusing on convenience, safety, and the unique needs of campus life.
In the Other productivity space, Taskr App takes a focused approach. It focuses on finding reliable help for everyday campus tasks without leaving the student community. Taskr App is a consumer product aimed at college students. Taskr App is available on the web.
Taskr App first shipped in 2024. Among its 6 catalogued features are task posting, student profiles, and in-app chat. Access is currently waitlist-only.
