HealChain

healchain.org·Databases (SQL, NoSQL, vector, graph)

HealChain is a decentralized, self-healing data storage platform designed to provide permanent, tamper-proof, and verifiable storage for documents, credentials, contracts, and other important records. It addresses the need for resilient, censorship-resistant data storage by ensuring that records remain accessible and intact, even in the event of service interruptions or company shutdowns. Data stored with HealChain is verifiable by anyone, with proofs living directly on-chain, eliminating the need to trust any intermediary, including HealChain itself.

The platform employs Reed-Solomon erasure coding, splitting each data record into 14 shards (10 data and 4 parity) to achieve mathematical redundancy. This allows for the loss of up to 4 shards while still enabling full data recovery, leveraging technology used in applications such as NASA and RAID storage. HealChain's implementation runs Reed-Solomon encoding as native precompiles in a custom go-ethereum fork, which significantly increases performance compared to Solidity-based approaches. Data is compressed using gzip before encoding, reducing storage size and costs by up to 80% for typical text and JSON payloads.

A proprietary ci-sha4096 integrity layer provides an additional layer of security, generating a 4096-bit cryptographic digest for each record. This ensures that any tampering or corruption, even at the bit level, is immediately detectable upon data recovery. The system is supported by a multi-oracle network with geographic redundancy, where three independent oracles monitor the blockchain and fulfill storage requests, preventing any single point of failure. org, with permanent archiving on IPFS. Users interact with the platform by connecting their wallets and signing transactions directly, ensuring that data ownership remains with the user and that no intermediaries hold private keys.

HealChain supports a range of use cases, including permanent storage for healthcare licenses, transportation credentials, creative works, institutional documents, commerce receipts, insurance policies, real estate records, and precious metals custody. The default Reed-Solomon configuration is customizable for higher-security workloads, allowing institutions to adjust redundancy settings. The platform is open source, and its frontend is available for public use, with no accounts or servers required.
