Faceoff is a terminal user interface (TUI) application designed for following NHL hockey games in real time. It caters to hockey fans who prefer to access game information directly from the command line, offering a text-based experience for browsing live schedules, scores, and statistics.

The tool provides several features aimed at delivering comprehensive coverage of NHL games. Users can browse the NHL game schedule by date, with navigation options to view previous or upcoming days. For live games, faceoff offers auto-refreshing scores and real-time updates. Detailed game information is available, including play-by-play breakdowns, box scores, and scoring summaries for both in-progress and completed games. Pre-game previews present matchup data such as goalie comparisons and top skater statistics for upcoming matches.

Faceoff also includes features for tracking league-wide information. Users can view current NHL standings with multiple perspectives, including Wild Card, Division, Conference, and League views. The application highlights player stats leaders in various categories for both skaters and goalies. A team browser enables users to explore all NHL teams, access rosters, and check team schedules. Detailed player profiles are available, showing career statistics and game logs. The interface adapts responsively to terminal width, and game times are displayed in the user's local timezone with the appropriate abbreviation.

The application can be installed using pip or run with uvx, reflecting its focus on accessibility for users comfortable with terminal-based tools. Faceoff is built with the Textual TUI framework for Python and utilizes the nhl-stats-api-client to access publicly available NHL API data.
