effGen

effgen.org·Infrastructure

effGen is a framework designed for building production-ready AI agents optimized for Small Language Models (SLMs). It addresses the need for faster and more efficient AI agent workflows by providing features such as complexity routing, automatic task decomposition, multi-agent orchestration, and integration with vLLM for accelerated inference. The platform is tailored for real-world usability, supporting grounded outputs with source citations, handling token-heavy reasoning tasks, and honoring custom personas throughout agent interactions.

The framework includes a suite of production-grade capabilities. It offers a policy-based model router with cost, latency, and first-available policies, as well as automatic failover and transparent router decisions. effGen supports 14 inference backends, including five local engines and nine cloud providers—OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Cerebras, Groq, Together, Fireworks, Replicate, and HF Inference. The unified provider registry manages model resolution and API key readiness, while the system is designed to fail closed and provide typed errors for robustness. Built-in tools are sandboxed for security, and the model catalog can self-update with drift warnings.

effGen features automatic sub-agent routing, allowing complex tasks to be decomposed and handled by parallel or sequential sub-agents. Multi-agent orchestration is supported, enabling coordination among specialized agents with shared state and agent-to-agent communication. The agent loop operates on a ReAct reasoning cycle, where agents analyze tasks, select from 66 built-in tools, execute actions in sandboxed environments, validate outputs, and synthesize final responses. These tools cover domains such as computation, code execution, information retrieval, document parsing, news and media, audio/image analysis, social and communication tasks, data processing, and file operations.

The platform supports one-line agent creation with nine ready-to-use presets optimized for common scenarios. It is delivered as a framework with command-line interface utilities and programmatic APIs, as indicated by references to PyPI, GitHub, and CLI commands. effGen is positioned as a production AI agent framework within the class of autonomous agent tooling, focusing on SLMs and high-performance, reliable deployment.
