Acai

Acai is an open-source toolkit designed to support spec-driven software development. yaml, which helps teams keep requirements organized and traceable throughout the software lifecycle. The toolkit aims to minimize errors and improve software quality by shifting focus from ad hoc prompts to structured specifications and acceptance criteria.

The platform provides several components, including a command-line interface (CLI) for pushing and pulling specifications, requirements, coverage, status, and comments. Acai also offers a server and a dashboard that facilitate quality assurance, code review, and collaborative development. Teams can invite members to a shared dashboard or generate access tokens for AI agents and CLI access, supporting both human and automated workflows. The system is designed to integrate incrementally into existing projects, regardless of repository structure, and works with both monorepos and polyrepos across multiple branches and repositories.

A notable feature of Acai is its ACID system, which enables referencing specifications from anywhere within a codebase. This makes it possible to track where requirements are implemented or tested, improving test coverage and responsiveness to changing requirements. The dashboard allows users to review code by jumping directly to the functions, tests, or comments associated with each requirement, streamlining the review process and helping prioritize areas such as authentication, security, and performance.

Acai supports a collaborative, multiplayer environment where agents and product managers can stay synchronized while iterating on specs and implementations. The workflow tracks progress from specification to implementation, agent review, and human acceptance.
